WANDA SYKES SAYS IT LIKE IT IS

Wanda Sykes admired her Evan Almighty character for telling it like it is.

Stand-up comedian Wanda Sykes takes on the role of Rita, the political secretary to Steve Carell’s Evan Baxter who tells it like it is in Evan Almighty.

Wanda says she admires that quality in her character.

“She’s the one person in Washington DC that’s gonna speak her mind, telling exactly the way she sees it. And in some ways Rita doesn’t have a fear about getting fired I guess. I enjoy playing characters like that who are outspoken.”

Sykes is outspoken on stage and completely uncensored so she related to Rita’s fearlessness.

“And in some ways I can relate to that especially from being a comedian. That’s my background doing stand-up. When I’m on stage I say whatever the hell I wanna say. Either the people laugh or they don’t but it’s nice to have that freedom.”

Next Wanda will reprise her role as Bessy the cow from the film Barnyard for the television series Back In The Barnyard currently shooting.
