UGK’s Pimp C was released from prison at the end of last year, and the rapper has been making up for lost time. He released a new solo album and DVD, both titled Pimpalation, in June and now he’s gearing up for the new UGK album.

The group will release the self-titled album in September and it promises to be their best effort to date. Bun B recently shared how the group got signed in the early ’90s in their hometown of Port Arthur, Texas, He said,

“Recording in the bedroom in high school. I guy had a sign in the liquor store said he was looking for talent. We brought him our demo and he liked it. He put his money behind us. I guess the rest is history. A lot of people don’t really get signed like that anymore.”

Pimp C, who served four-and-a-half years behind bars for a parole violation, released his debut solo album, The Sweet James Jones Stories, last year while still incarcerated.
