JOSH HARTNETT REMEMBERS RESURRECTING THE CHAMP

Josh Hartnett has fond memories of filming Resurrecting The Champ.

Josh Hartnett stars in Resurrecting The Champ as a hotshot sports journalist looking for his cover story when he happens upon a former boxing champion believed to be dead living in the streets.

Josh recalls his fondest memory of making the film on location in Calgary.

“On the set we had a lot of fun but offset I had my birthday last year on set and we had a big party and everybody came. It was wild. I’ll remember that for a long time. Calgary was surprisingly fun. We all got along. The whole town was very kind to us.”

What sticks out most for Josh is working with his co-stars Samuel L. Jackson who plays the Champ and Alan Alda who plays the editor in the film of The Denver Times.

“Is there one moment that sticks out? Not really but being able to be on set and working with Alan, being able to work with Sam. I mean Alan and his wife are amazing people. We played card games on set and stuff together. I just had a good time. I think I’ll remember the whole thing for quite a while.”

Resurrecting The Champ directed by Rod Lurie is based on a 1997 Los Angeles Times Magazine article written by J.R. Moehringer about a former heavyweight boxer Bob Satterfield who went from being Chicago City Golden Gloves champion to homelessness on the streets of California.
